Easy Apple Crisp Recipe without Oats



This is the first time I have made an Apple Crisp and it turned out great! Most receipts called for quick cooking oats, alas, I had none, so I searched and found this oatless receipe. The only thing I changed was I added about 1/4 cup of granulated sugar to the apples before putting on the topping and I stirred in some dried strawberries with pecans into the topping mixture.

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice or White Vinegar1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice or White Vinegar
  • 5 Green Apples5 Green Apples

INSTRUCTIONS :
  • Number one : Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Number two : Spray a loaf pan with baking spray.
  • Number three : Fill a medium sized bowl with cold water and add lemon juice or vinegar.
  • Number four : Core, peel, and slice apples.
  • Number five : Place apple slices into the water and set aside.
  • Number six : In a separate bowl, add dark brown sugar, flour, and butter.
  • Number seven : Mix and mash with a fork until everything is well combined. You can also use a mixer to do this part.
  • Number eight : Hand mixing may be required to get it all to come together.
  • Number nine : Drain apples and discard liquid.
  • Number ten : Cover apples with white sugar and cinnamon, toss to coat apples.
  • Number eleven : Place apples in a loaf pan.
  • Number twelve : Sprinkle the sugar, flour, and butter mixture over the apples.
  • Number thirteen : Press down firmly onto to apples.
  • Number fourteen : Place in preheated oven.
  • Number fifteen : Bake for 60 minutes or until the top is beginning to turn darker. You may even see some liquid from the apple layer bubbling through.
  • Number sixteen : Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
